Easy pre algebra problems
Introduction :
The purpose of easy pre algebra problems is to strengthen our arithmetic skills and to give you an introduction to basic algebra concepts, math vocabulary, and algebraic operations in preparation for an notes on pre algebra course. Easy pre algebra problems is intended to ease students’ transition from Basic Mathematics into Elementary Algebra. Easy pre algebra problems include operations on real numbers, linear equations, graphing polynomials and factoring will be covered. Let us see easy pre algebra problems.
Easy pre algebra problems:
EXAMPLE 1 :
One third of a certain number is 26. find exact value of that unknown number.
Solution:
let us assume unknown number be "x" . one third of x is ( 1/3 ) * x
so, ( 1/3 ) * x = 26
x = 26 * 3
x = 78
the number is 78.
EXAMPLE 2:
Find the value of the expression 4x +8 , if x = 3
Solution:
Substitute x = 3 in the given expression 4x + 8
4x + 8 = 4(3) + 8
= 12 + 8
X = 20
Here the value of the expression is 20.
EXAMPLE 3:
Solve: 7x - 6 = 68
Solution:
Given, 7x - 6 = 68
7x = 68 + 6
7x = 74
x = `74/7`
or x = 10.57.
Easy pre algebra problems:
EXAMPLE 4:
If five times of a number is equal to 60. Then find what exactly the number is?
Solution:
let us assume the unknown number as " X "
Given 5 * X = 60.
Move left side term to right
Then X = `60 /5`
The unknown number x is
X = 12.
EXAMPLE 5:
Given : simplify
20x - 4(12x-10x+2)+x.
Solution:
First we need to simplify the brackets. So we multiply (12x -10x+2) with -4
So, - 48x + 40x - 8.
It can be written as 20x - 48x + 40x - 8 + x.
So, the answer is 13x - 8.
Example 6:
Solve the following system:
2x + y = 13 - (1)
3x - y = 11 - (2)
Solution:
Solve the (1) equation
y =13 -2x
substitute in (2)equation
3x - (13 - 2x) = 11
3x - 13 + 2x = 11
5x = 24
x = 24/5 = 4.8
substitute value of x in (1)equation
2x + y = 13 - (1)
2(4.8) + y = 13
y =13 - 9.6 = 3.4
